Hi forumIAS members,
I have now made up my mind to take on Economics on a beast mode. Planned to give a good time to this subject.
Would do everything to learn this subject.
I want to understand this whole subject in every way from every angle and from every angel.
My current learning arena is not just from the point of view of UPSC syllabus only.
I want to learn every bit of this subject to it's core and practical applications.
I have Ramesh Singh's book but I did not get satisfaction even after reading it 2-3 times.
I request everyone to suggest me every book/ material / website /method/magazine you know that can explain and clear my concepts. Any book ,from any author, related to Economics can also be suggested. Anything that has slightest relation with Economics can be suggested.
I am a beginner in Economics but would love to turn into 'Almost-an-Expert' , if not expert, in Economics.
TIA.
Take care.
Regards,
Sheen

dear , since you have read IAG by Guha I would like to take your advice . Doesn't it appear that it is more of pro congress or more precise pro Gandhi Family book. Should we search for other sources also so we can get a more balanced view .
It is much acclaimed boo but it supports a left-of-centre approach but while writing answers in mains i personally feel we shouldn't have ideologies.
As some one said have ideas but not ideologies.
IAG discusses a lot about Political ideologies. It shows us the route of Political tendencies in our country. I won't say IAG a Pro Congress book.
I have learned the way of History's critical analysis in more effective way after reading IAG.
This book is not for the facts but for ideas.
I used to read a part of the book and used to ponder over it in my mind. In this way, I formed many aspects/approaches to the same event of the history. IAG compelled me to think deeply. I have now my own views and opinions on every post-Independence event. This has earned me the capability to critically analyse the topics. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read this book because I love History.
( Regarding Pro Congress part, some also.claim that Bipan Chandra is Pro Congress too in his writings. We need to develop our own views rather than relying on author's views only )
These are my own opinions and views. People have right to agree or disagree at their own discretion.
I will soon post a detailed review of IAG once I complete some pending work in my hands.
