Hi this was my 2nd attempt in mains. last time I had just left the Job after prelims and didn't had much time to go through optional. so, i just prepared GS and went and missed by 35 marks(got 151 in optional)
tab laga next chance mein easily ho jayega, 60-70 marks bhadana koi badi baat nahi hai. SBI PO ki job mili thi, wo bhi isi over confidence mein chod di.
Is saal full tayari se paper diya, sab prepare tha, vision mein hamesha 100 ke around marks ate the har paper mein paper bhi sahi attempt hue the but fir bhi nahi hua. it was so unexpected i felt like cryiing.
ab mera toh vishwas gaya UPSC se. Ab samajh nahi aa raha kya karu. koi aur govt. job bhi nahi hai
purani company mein fir se apply kiya toh 40k offer kar rahe hain jab ki 72k pe chodi thi aur ab jate hue bhi bohut sharam aa rahi hai.
its really tough question tough becoz I don't know much about you...so like UPSC subjective answers there is NO black and white answer
But there are cons and pros Lets talk about Cons first: 1)you have to spend money. check your financial viability 2)Loneliness and boredom. As you are on your own. This is the mother of all problems.
Pros: 1) You will get many printed materials(test papers and all) 2) Aspirants of likeminded (if u choose to stay in vicinity)
Cautions: too much material is injurious to your ability to assimilate. It is ratta maar exam at least for prelims. mera suggestion rahega find your comfortable place of study where you can study 6-7 hrs daily fruitfully. Buy books (recommended ones) and then make notes (not necessarily very neat and fair ..you have to throw them after selection anyhow). Take some online/offline test series and practice those...and analyse week areas..thats all
Aaj kal toh bahut sari materials online hai. if you get grip over them then its good thing.
Baad baki sab moh maya hai...delhi jao na jao..koi fark nahi padta...if you are willing within. And this exam is all about willing.. Willing won't take you into academy but its prerequisite for any endeavour..CSE included.

bhai ek salah hai dil se...jisne ki saram uske phute karam....40k is a decent sum..if you are capable you can reach to 70 in a year....but if you want to prepare without job then 40k or 400k ...should not deviate you..
you are not alone who face such kind of ill fate...there are many in this boat. I know people who are in academy/could not make into academy ..everyone has their own unique stories of fortune/misfortune. have faith on ur guts and seek blessings (they can do miracles)
My 2 cents to you ..Work hard but don't solely bank on it. It might sound weird to you so to Arjuna in Mahabharata. Baad baki ki story or moral theory you know...

- Shaaram ke chaakar mein mat rehna - Jo mile le lo ; phir koi opportunity aa jaayegi - switch kar lena - ( I myself have learnt hard lessons here - Being one of good student in academics (earlier - and certainly not in this exam ) - I tend to make choices- While there were others who simply took what they got - and progressed well thereafter )
- As for staying in Delhi is concerned - I myself would be confused with this kind of question - perhaps staying in Delhi would give me success, etc. - and have experimented with everything possible- staying in Delhi / staying at home.
- Final thing - wherever you stay - just sit and study - be aware about the right material to be studied- keep in touch with some good aspirant - write mocks etc - and know the demand of the exam.
- I have come across successful civil servants - who stayed at home but were in touch with material coming in the market - and also they knew the method of preparation / nature of exam / demand of exam.
I studied hard for 2015 mains. And yes just like others scored well in mains test series. Was confident and confidence is needed too. But failed. Seeing result i wasn't sad. But rather shocked. Everyone around me used to say 'Bhaiya aap bas interview ki prep karo'. Last year my friend from college got into final list. If i look back on college years no one would have even played a bet on him. But he turned out to be a black horse.
I wanted to repeat the same for me this year. But failed. Hardwork and 'Smartwork' were both there from my side. But may be i lacked maturity in views which would have reflected in essay and ethics paper.
Moral: Fault lies in us. Accept it. I would be skipping 2016 CSE. Will get a job. Want to work and get more mature in thoughts. Age 25 and still 4 attempts left. A wellwisher guided me to take a break from prep and do a job for 2 years since i started preparing just after i passed out. This well wisher of mine made it with a double digit rank 2 years back. He took a 3 year break from prep.
Sometimes just working hard is not enough. What is required is coherence in thoughts. Successful candidates from my college told me this coherence comes not from sitting 12 hours in lib in rajinder nagar but by being on road. So will attempt this strategy of theirs.
