  • RBI Gr.B can also do the job, for you,if you want to excel in IRS in future you need to study taxation laws clearly and in RBI good Economics degree would work for you.In coming 15-20 years ,I don't see any issue with RBI Gr. B job,now its upto you to work extra hard and get into IRS or stay in RBI Gr. B,Which would provide you a very good avenue for growth.
    In simple terms IRS better than RBi in current context but in long term and looking at job profile RBI Gr.B is awesome.
  • I dont know other things but one of my friend (girl) was working in RBI grade B...after 3 years of service she got selected in STATE PCS and joined as CTO

    It's all about ur choice most won't leave Rbi for state pcs so its all about choice and the aim of you're life
    In any case for ppl like me Rbi NY day over NY state pcs coz my state pcs sucks big time but again some want instant fame nd corrupted money so may be for dem its good

    I think she might be RBI assistant, and not RBI Class 1 Officer... So thats why she moved to State PCS... makes sense..

    Yup may be as some ppl by mistake think if ur in RBI den mostly ur an officer
  • Or some even mistake grade b for group b
  • And I have been studying so hard for the past 3 years that now Im sure getting in the Top 100 ranks with a good cadre for IAS would be impossible... Whereas getting in the Top 500 might still be possible. So I am removing IAS as an option.
    @rockstar213 How come Impossible ?
    Well, after three years of experience, I have learnt to be a realistic pragmatic than a blind optimist.. :D

    dost...she was RBI grade B officer ...was posted at kolkata...
    p.s- after joining CTO she cracked UPSC too...& now IRS.

    which state, she joined as CTO?? Bengal??

  • @rockstar213 : Bhai I understand your position. RBI grade B is much better job (and peaceful) than it is made out to be. You get to travel also including foreign quite early in career (where you are paid high daily allowance).

    Yours is a valid question. I would suggest talk to ppl who r in RBI grade B. Most of them are anyway preparing for UPSC. They alone can give you good idea. I have heard perks are quite good, find out about those too.

    In any case, don't leave it if you get RBI grade B and at best give next attempt with job. Who knows you may succeed with moderate prep this time when you could not with hard all this time. I personally believe clearing prelims will be 10-20% tougher than last time.

    All the best for grade B results
