Sociology Optional Vajiram Study Material Doubt

Hey Guys.
I want to know about Vajiram paper 2 Study material for sociology. I have the Vajiram class notes of 2014. (On the notes its written "2014", though when i sift through them, the person who has written them has scribbled 2010 at many places.). I find them good enough. but i want to know whether the latest class notes (vajiram) would be more updated?..and are they available even, in the market?..I tried from some places, but they gave me these same notes. Their 2016 batch is still going on and i want to complete sociology syllabus in the next 2-3 months and i dont think i would have the time to add to my notes later on. Students of Vajiram Sociology classes or Sociology optional as general please clarify.
By the way, what material are u refferring for paper 2?. I didnot find Upendra sir's Class notes for paper 2 sufficient. Though his Paper 1 class notes are pretty good. Ur take on it?

  • @kaisersoze ... I had attended Vajiram's Sociology long back. Trust me, they dont update their notes. It will be almost the same notes that 2016 batch will get.
    My advice:
Make Mohapatra sir's notes as your base and build on it further. You can refer the following sources:
    1) IGNOU BA notes: Caste, village, industrialization, Ghurye, Agrarian class structure and many others. Just have a look over them
    2) Ram Ahuja for social problems which are mentioned in the syllabus. Agreed the book is not upto the mark, but its the best you have got. So use it.
    3) Modernization of Indian tradition by Y. Singh: It's a must read for paper II (selected chapters)
    4) You can read Social Background of Indian Nationalism: Read it once. It will also help in GS
    5) Indian Society by SC Dube: Short book. Covers quite a lot of topics.
    6) For Classes in India, you can refer either IGNOU or NIAS notes.

Rest, you can ask topic wise, I will be happy to help you.

    Have a nice day
