Kya cricket pashchatya sabhyata ki upaj nahi hai? Aur agar hai toh kyu Bharat ke Vishwa Cup jeetne pe tyohaar jaisa mahaul banate ho? Jabki Kabaddi, Kushti aur Khoko jo ki cricket se achhe khel hain (obviously) aise doosri shreni ke khel banke reh gaye hain.
Asliyat mein jis tarah se American yoga karne se hindu nahi ban jaate usi tarah kuch so called Christian prathaon ko bhartiya sanskriti mein avshoshit Karne se naa hi hum Angrez bante hain aur naa Hi Bhartiya sanskriti ki upeksha karte hain.
aap ya main christian ban gaye ye nahi bola ja raha bhai. yahi kaha ja raha k hum apni sabhyata bhul k west ko follow karne mei lag gaye hain. apni sabhyata k ijjat karte huye b aadhunik/modern bana ja sakta hai.
look at japan. they are among the most developed nations of the world. but if you visit japan you will see how people cherish their traditions and culture. hum log apni tradition ko laat marne mei h modern bante hai. wo galat hai.
After justifying in an answer of gs1, how ancient civilization of India, "its culture and traditions have been preserved without a breakdown, to the present day", I think I am not too worried about a "Happy New Year" thread.

Bhai ek bàat batao yeh argument kahan se aata hai ki just because majority of Indians dhoom dhaam se HNY manate hain toh woh equivalent hai Bhartiya sanskriti ko laat maarne ke barabar. How can this be argued that those who celebrate HNY do not give a damn about Holi or Pongal..or they do not cherish Indian values..how?
Jahan tak andhadund west ko follow karne ki baat hai wahan mai poori tarah sehmat hoon yeh mothers day, father's day, valentine day, HNY sab faaltu chochle hain..khushiyon ko ek din me sameta nahin jaa sakta..lekin yeh alag argument hai ki HNY manane bhar se Indian values ya Indian culture par bura asar hora hai..which I think is too much of a stretch!
Celebrating Gregorian new year cannot be equated with disrespecting 'sabhyata ki izzat' and Bharat ki sanskriti, this is a limited point I am making. Rest of the issues like giving unnecessary importance to customize dates, commodification, and scientific nature of Indian calendars, I ain't contesting.
sirf new year pe nahi bola tha bhai. general bola. hum indian subcontinent k logon ko apna tradition aur values ko laat marne mei bada maja aata hai. eg k sath jyada aacha rahega
1. tulsi k paudhe ko log kehte hain superstition hai. bina ye samjhe k uski medicinal values hai sir puja k liye nahi. 2. haldi doodh ko bewkufi kehte hain. ye nai samajhte k it is immunity booster. 3. kicking parents out when they need us most(old age) just because west has tradition of calling those staying with their parents as wierdos and all. unka system alag hai. humara alag. waha support system hai old age walo k liye humare pass aisi koi vyavastha nahi.
waise aur bahut kuch hai.
mai sirf itna h keh raha tha k enjoy these traditions par apna traditions b mat bhulo. haan it is a well known fact k globalization k daud mei kuch cheezen peeche chut jayengi. suka hum chah k b kuch nahi kar sakte. par globalization ka ye matlab to nahi k apni cheezen laat mar do aur dusro k cheezen jhat se pakad lo.
pawan verma wrote a book on our mentality - becoming indian. samay mile to padhna. he explains these things in a very lucid manner.
bharat ki apni sanskriti kuch bhi nahi hai, jahan chuha ko ganesh ji ka savari mana jata hai wahin mushar bhai log khoj khoj ke chuha khate hain.samaj ke upper cast ke log(varn vyawastha ke aadhar par) jinke pas samay jyada hai aur kaam kam wahi sanskriti ke naam pe halla machate hain, are yar jisko jo manana hai manao no,gandhi ji jaise ahinsak aadmi ki isi desh me hatya huyi hai.bharat ki sanskriti udhar li huyi hai, north south east west sabka apna tarika hai,ab north east ke log bhi hindu calendar ke hisab se naya saal manayen tabhi bhartiya sanskriti bachegi kya?yar jisko jo karna hai karo koi apni baat kisi pe na thope to hi accha hai. p.s. hindi bhasha ko to aamir khushro ne banaya tha ise chhor ke sanskrit me bat karen kya?
is forum ke adhiktar logon ko abhi is bat ka ehsas nahi hai ki ab unki umar bit gayi hai aur naya generation aa chuka hai,aur generation gap me aisa hi hota hai ki apni agli pidhi ke logon ka har kam galat lagta hai..1950 ke log bhi apni agli pidhi yani 1970 ke logon ko yahi bola karte the..aaj ke is samay me bhi kai buzurg log bolte hain ki mobile ne is pidhi ko barbad kar diya hai, love marriage bekar hai, girls ko jeans nahi pahnna chahiye,ye nahi khana chahiye o nahi pina chahiye. yar jahan ek hi culture ek hi dharam hoga us country ka haal pakistan aur taliban jaisa ho jayega.
people are missing here differentiating between addition and replacement. If somethings whose analogous thing/event is not present here then it's generally welcome and it enriches..but when already a better version exists and then a phony version comes with tide of civilizational hegemony and people submit to it..it's wrong!!
Cultures do evolve by addition and adoption where ever needed not by forgetting and abandoning their own!
