How to separate your feelings while studying?

I am fed up with the politics. I see all these people making these ludicrous excuses, flouting laws, disregarding rights etc. I have a little analytical faculty, and can comprehend these things. But, while reading newspapers or books, how does one separate one' s feelings and emotions from getting in the way? How do you guys manage all this? Being disinterested and all.

Thanks.

  • Learn to experience them. Then let them go.Slowly, you'll be able to do this faster and faster. It's just practice

Don't let them waste your time. Keep an eye on the clock.
  • @Mapcoder_baniya If you are preparing for Civils, you should totally avoid political news. Just focus on the editorial and opinion pages + IR + finance pages. Do not even read the first page unless you are appearing for the Interview which is when the first page becomes important.

    Mapcoder_baniya bhai ---

Main jab History padhta hoon na ( chahe ancient ho, medieval ho, modern ho yaa fir world ho) tab LITERALLY mera khoon khaul uthtaa hai. Dhokhebaazi, Dagaabaazi, har baar kuch naa kuch galat hota gaya aur har koi Hijdo jaisa, Napunsako jaisa usko dekhta raha...... Ye cheezein padhke kabhi kabhi bahut Bhayankar krodh aata hai History mein mujhe.

Lekin iske saath ye bhi lagta hai ki SIVAAY krodh ke main abhi kuch bhi nahi kar sakta hoon. Aur krodh karunga, to isse meri hi energy waste hogi. To jis energy ko mujhe CSE Mains clear karne mein lagana chahiye tha, usi Beshkeemti energy ko maine Krodh karke waste kar diya.

Isliye behtar to main yahi samajhta hoon ki agar kabhi Bhavishya mein avsar milta hai to aisa kuch bhi galat NAA hone paaye, iske liye poora prayas hona chahiye mera.

After about a month of following your advice, i do feel the difference. Sorry, i took so long to respond; wanted to see for myself whether it is beneficial or not before commenting.

@Etat : bhai, have been feeling them for quite some time now, don't ever want to do that again. People raping, gang-raping children, bickering politicians, appeal to pathos, justice and rights being made a mockery of is not something that people should not be exposed incessantly with. At least i can't handle that and prepare professionally at the same time.

IvanTheTerrible : Bhai, I can totally relate to you. Haven't had a chance to study or bother about news ever in life before. Were not a newspaper-reader! Bas college, projects, friends, girlfriend, placement and like. Life kinda felt warm, just & rosy; preparation karne aaya to lagi jaise kisi ne january ki thandi mein balti bhar kar fridge ka paani dal diya ho!

I don't know if you guys have noticed the tension between NATO and Russia. Many geo-political analysts are predicting a full scale nuclear war between NATO and BRICS. Gussa to kya...main to ye pray krta hu k World War 3 na start ho jae.

And if you think that World War 3 is just a wild imagination, then, keep a tab on news and feel the pulse.

Tolerance and Intolerance mein uljha k rakha hai Useless Media ne...Real issues koi discuss nai krta !!!

Mjhe to THE HINDU bekar newspaper lgta hai !!!

The Hindu se zada achha analysis to IAS Mohan Guruswamy and other senior IAS, IPS dete hain. FB pe unhe follow kro. Wo phr bhi better hai.

People like me who are not Leftist, nor Right Wing, and who can spot the underlying political agendas in the news story are always frustrated. Hahaha...

But we need to use our frustration and energy to improve the system. So, study and best of luck !

Absolutely right. I wonder who started this propaganda of lobbying for The Hindu. I would say to Civil Services aspirants to avoid the Hindu.

Follow the thinkers directly on their social media pages.
  • yes boycott the hindu physical hardcopy edition and read them online or their editorials experts views on their personal sites..frankly saying indian express is best than thindu just see editorial pages of ie and compare with thindu you will find difference..the hindu wants to create another pakistan in india by brainwashing young aspirants with their communist ideology

UPSC exams are left leaning in nature. So, neo liberal , right wing policies are seen with condescension. I think that all this talk of aspirants having personal opinion is hoax. There are standard opinions. U must ascribe to them. For eg - I support beef ban with all my heart still UPSC is intolerant to such opinions. The hindu has been bashing such moves day and night. So, I read it's columns n prepared my answer accordingly for interview preparation.( It was a burning issue then). U have no choice but to read it. The exam format is that way.
