In paper 2, time is money & filling up 80 circles takes up substantial amount of time. Do u have any special plans about the pen that u r going to use in CSAT this year that can reduce this time?
Moreover, what should be the strategy of darkening? Along with solution of every question/ At the very end/ Half in the mid & half in the end?
I ll try a fantastic gel pen uniball impact 1.0 mm in GS paper for a few questions at first if i dont experience any problems i ll continue...
if not i ll switch to Uniball jetstream 1.0 mm which is a ball point pen so 100% safe...
Regarding marking on the sheet best if we did it in batches ... neither at last nor after each question while solving if we feel a little tiredness in our brains we can use shading bubbles as a relaxation...

Why do u want to take even the slightest of risks for such a big exam..
Its a calculated risk andy... the time factor becomes way too important esp in paper 2...
in an exam where even one extra correct answer could be the difference between AIR 2 and not qualified prelims... remember last year rank 2 score very close to cut off, what if she had missed one question... No one would have cared about how hard she worked or whether she had the potential to crack the exam...
Let me put an end to this debate. There is no point in arguing more on this topic.
The basic difference between gel pens and traditional ball point pens is the ink. You can google and find out the exact differences.
Similarity: They both use the same "Ball Point" technology. Gel pens tip are exactly similar to traditional ball point pens.
Ball Point Technology - There is a small ball at the end of the pen. The ink flows through this ball when pressed on a surface. This ball helps reduce friction (Apart from facilitating the passage of ink) between pen and paper.
Now coming to our basic question: Can we use gel pens to fill OMR?
The answer is Yes! Just be extra careful because gel pen inks have a tendency to smudge and most of them are not water proof. If you are unfortunate and put up in a room with no fans, it will be safe to avoid gel pens.
Extra fact: Even if you use an extra dark pencil ( Above 4B ), OMR reader will be able to scan your answer sheet. "Black Pen" only clause has been added in various exams to reduce malpractices. (Getting somebody to erase and fill the correct answers later).
