Reservation which forms the primary basis for allocation is vertical reservation. e.g reservation based on caste.

All other reservations which cut across this is horizontal reservation. e.g PH reservation, which is given according to category, within the existing category reservation.

So, women's reservation would be also horizontal one, as it would be given within caste reservation.
    CSE 2015. Got in.

CSE 2016. Hopefully, the hallowed All India Services.

Hello everyone, I'm UR category candidate but I've one query regarding horizontal reservation.

Let's say there are total 10 seats in a recruitment process - 5 general and 5 vertically reserved for SC, ST, OBC. And there is reservation for 3 PH candidates horizontally.

Let's say a few PH candidates qualify for interview stage. BUT not even a single PH guy turns up for interview. (Let's say they all got a better job and didn't come for this particular interview)

What will happen if not even a single PH candidate comes for interview ??
Will the horizontally reserved seats be filled with UR and vertically reserved candidates or will they be left vacant ??

[Please remember it's horizontal reservation. It's explicitly written in notification.]

  • UR PH goes to UR. Quota PH goes to respective quota. Quota seats move to other quotas and then to UR uf left unfilled in this way - ST > SC > OBC > UR.
Dead and departed general caste player. RIP.
