Sociology or PSIR? What to choose? Please help me out seniors!

Guys. i have started my preparation for 2016 with only newspapers as of now. Haven't touched or even decided my optionals yet as i'm totally confused between Sociology and PSIR. I come from Arts background and have equal interests in both subjects. Can somebody senior help me decide what would be better for me from scoring point of view, in terms of being able to finish syllabus in time and revise it multiple times (considering it is my 1st attempt) and availablity of right study material and guidance for the same.
Thank You.

  • sociology & psir both are famous among ias aspirant(art's bg)

    (1)syllabus - psir > socio
    (2)current affairs- psir > socio
    (3)memorize-psir= socio
    (4)analysis- psir > socio
    (5)scoring- psir = soci(present)
    (6)question level(tough)- psir > socio
    my suggestion(right/wrong)(ur prep 2016,may be 2017..)

    +ve psir-
    (1) gs paper-2 is 90% psir.then vast syllabus no matter(500+250)
(2)without current affairs, u can't think about pt, mains, interview. so don't worry with current
    (3)also scoring(if no scaling)
    (4) in essay may be help
(5)optional may be .......then with psir no problem.
    -ve psir:
(1)in revision(big problem),why-vast syllabus, current affairs at last month of mains.

socio- small syllabus, current affairs not big issue so revision is easy.
(plz refer question bank of both subject then decide)
