  • For those pro-congress history students, here are four questions I want your answers for: http://discuss.forumias.com/discussion/12008/a-history-study-in-scarlet
so you are questioning nehru here?
  • If good and unbiased history was allowed in this country, I won't even be complaining about the bad historians. We would simply ignore the bad historians, and focus on the good historians. In this academic mahol, a good historian simply won't graduate.

If you, for example, investigate whether Chandrashekhar Azad was betrayed by a certain Congress leader - you will never be allowed to complete that investigation as a part of your doctoral research. Even if you do succeed, no one is going to take you seriously.

It took 100+ years after battle of plassey before we could get AUTHENTIC and REAL books on the effect of economic drain. Give it some time, historians will emerge. Provided you don't label any inquirer of truth as fascist, communal etc. Some of are just patriotic, we don't give two hoots about BJP, Congess, CPI etc etc.

Do any of the four questions mention Nehru? Just answer the questions neutrally like an inquirer of truth. If you are truly unbiased, you should be able to give answers to those questions without feeling any guilt/shame etc.

  • You seem to implicate nehru here, if i am not wrong. I hope you have authentic source to prove that
  • When I was in class X, my history textbook never mentioned the word 'Revolutionary Terrorist' to describe Bhagat Singh. Why? Because if my history textbook had used the word Terrorist to describe Bhagat Singh - the teacher would have been made to cry. Of course, the historians know that. They know that if they use that word in a class X textbook, people will raise hue and cry.

So what do they do? They wait until class XII. Why until class XII? Because future-engineers and future-medicos won't ever read those textbooks. Secondly, by class XII students are sufficiently indoctrinated and they are able to hear Bhagat Singh being described as a terrorist. One of my friend who studied MA in History from JNU said that a professor dropped even the word 'revolutionary' and just used the word 'terrorist' in class to describe Bhagat Singh! Why wait until post-grad to do this? Because a class XII person cannot tolerate hearing Bhagat Singh as a vanilla terrorist.

Whatever I am saying can be validated by our own experiences.

Just answer the four questions. I am not implicating, implying or saying anything. Why does one have to feel shame to admit that a certain politician's home was a stonethrow away from that park? Are you just afraid that people might add 2 and 2 together? I would very much like to see a historian investigate and publish a report on the reasons as to why Mr. Azad visited that particular park. To meet whom?? Further, I would like to know how the police came to know.

Finally, Bipan Chandra dedicates a WHOLE bloody chapter to prove why Congress was not a safety valve. It is very interesting to note that he doesnt even describe the circumstances surrounding Mr. Azad's death. Very interesting, but only to a genuine inquirer of truth - who has zero agenda.
  • So you mean to we have to wait till 2050 to get real facts about our freedom struggle. And till that time you want us to believe crap like nehru was involved in encounter of azad.

what more to say. Azad was encountered in allahabad park. Allahabad happen to be home place of nehru family. And i don't think its communal to eulogise azad etc

I never said Nehru was involved in encounter of Azad, why are you getting insecure? :) Why do you feel so much shame in admitting that Alfred Park is close to Nehru's residence?
Why do you feel ashamed to admit that your favourite history book never taught you why Chandrashekhar Azad visited that place?
Why don't the good historians discuss the purpose behind that visit to that particular park? Was it rest and relaxation? Was it to meet someone? Who could he possibly be meeting at that park??

if you have any secret info please share it. Why are you hesitating? Or you are one of those kinds whose favourite passtime is spreading rumours?
