Any MCQ book to practice the questions subject wise?

edited January 2014 in Miscellaneous
Hi buddies,
Is there any comprehensive book
available to practice mcq subject
wise ? Like History / Polity etc.
When I complete a subject (or a part
of it ) , I feel practising few mcqs can
be more helpful. If not subject wise then whole GS practice books can also do.
Please suggest me the book names.
Thanks in advance.
Seniors may know well.

  • @sheen , I have TMH guide. I am solving the mcqs from that book only.
  • @sheen
bro, buy 1000+ series of tmh on economics, science and geography , or you can buy the book 14000 + questions of arihant publication by manohar pandey. there is also a book to practise questions from disha publication. They all have questions subject wise.

i personally have used 1000+ series of tmh, disha's and arihant's. i think practicing 1000 odd questions is enough. Buy last 15 years paper of disha or some other publication , they have everything chapter wise.
i have seen that lots of questions on general mental ability, history and constitution and science get repeated, few repeated ones can make a big difference.

both tmh and manohar pandey's are well organized and have 50 to 80 question for each chapter/topic. with explanation and answers .
  • @sheen Do last 10-15 years questions well and base your preparation on that.

As far as Question Banks are concerned, I don't think that is a very good idea. Reason being question banks are written keeping the textbook in mind and what is given in them (I once had a 14000 questions bank). They are static

Instead, I would say, go for the mock test papers of institutes in the market. You can get them at KBC or Prem Properties in ORN. Do them. They are created keeping the upcoming pre in mind.

    Just my personal suggestion.
However, if you don't have access to them and /or are really keen on a question bank, @sanki's answer suffices :-)
  • As far as practice is concerned, note that practicing and improvising is the key to success in CSAT
In GS, no matter how much you practice, if you haven't done the text well, it won't be of much help.
  • @Neyawn @sheen

I think some of the members have uploaded the link, for copies of test series of v@jiR@m and cl , he can perhaps download them and print where ever he is.

    for cl most test.

  • ah! @sheen I see better responses here. Creating a new thread worked. :)
  • @sheen Solve as many test series as you can, it will give you opportunity to assess your preparations and improvise accordingly, as @neyawn said. I'm relying on TMH along with CL test series questions, I think, that should suffice.

I am solving questions from Manohar Pandey's 14000 book. The questions are up to the standard and more or less cover the major aspects in all subjects.
It can be used for SSC/PSC too, so would definitely recommend it.
