So last year i got 165 in English and this time only 92. I haven't flunked compulsory paper but UPSC is a complete failure at the most important component of recruitment i.e Correcting papers. My worst paper has the highest marks and my best attempted paper has the second lowest..
I failed in English 56 marks attempted all questions, though my English is not bad as such. my medium of language for mains :English I think i crossed the word limit(question: precise it to 1/3.. about rest: i don't know). examiner taught me a lesson.
My commiserations with all of you. In my first attempt, i faced this. Since then , every year when mains marks are about to be declared, i pray to god to pass me language papers. Fortunately god has been kind to me so far.
In 2013 when govt announced scrapping of language papers i was on cloud nine. But out of nowhere government withdrew it in a knee jerk reaction to protests which were aimed at a completely different issue i.e. literature optionals. Hope some day these papers are scrapped for good

people who were expecting a score of 80+ have got more than 100+ marks..
although i wrote a decent paper in hindi...but got only 87...seems i missed by just 3 marks.
many people who are surely good in english have also flunked ..
