This is not an exact science. The answer will depend on a myriad of factors, a few of them being: What is your current level of understanding of indian polity and government? Have you read NCERT or any other less detailed book before? How long does it take you to understand and remember concepts? What is your big hurry?
Since Laxmikanth is probably the most important book for prelims, I would propose that you spend as much time as is necessary. If by 'completing' the book you mean understanding the basic concepts then it will take at least 2 readings for a beginner. But since you want a time-frame I am going to guess (4 hours x 7 days) = 28 hours.
Thankyou sir....I am well versed in understanding about government and constitution
i did not study ncerts polity since laxmikanth is the basic book....do i need to coverup ncerts before ?? and if laxmikanth is for prelims then what about polity in mains
no need to cover ncert in dis circumstance...just concentrate on lakshmikanth first complete part 3 and 4 thoroughly n rest can be completed easily...time frame depends on u..
Well, Polity by Laxmikanth is one of the best books I have ever read I suppose. Actually, speed of reading/understanding the concept depends on our level of interest. - The time needed to complete a book is a comparative quantity. We cannot generalise it. - But, I think it can be completed in 12 to 15 days if you give 4hours per day (as you have mentioned that you have the pre-knowledge about Polity). But then you have to seriously revise the book atleast 3 to 4 times to have a good command over it. The way UPSC asks questions in Prelims in Polity , the book has to be revised as many times as possible. With mere 1 or 2 reads, it would be of no use unless you have done your PG in Polity. Actually, revision is the key.
@Emptiness Begin, do your 4 hours a day, see how many days it takes. Start with second reading, should take lesser time than that. 3rd reading should take half the time, and 4th reading you should be able to recall what's on the page by just glancing through.
