@Neyawn , sir every year anthro performed very well ,got to know AIR -45 got 362 marks in anthro which is even more than air-1 in which he got 361 . generally in my group friends used to say anthro would be dropped down by upsc in every coming year but what happens is that every year anthro reach at next level .. something i feel as if any one took anthro as optional he will surely clear CSE with good rank. what's your say ,sir
This is only one side of the story. In every optional there will be students who score high.
I have written 3 mains with Anthro, never crossed 220. This year I got 210.
Same case with my friend. 3 mains with anthro and never crossed 240. In 2018 he shifted from anthro to pol sci. He scored 270, but wasn't good enough to get in to final list.
I also shifted to pol sci for 2019. Need to see how it goes.
I think in any optional to score well it is important to be in the top 1 or 2 percetile. The toppers always score well.
It's always better to choose the optional we are interested in rather than chasing some one else's marks. I wish I had paid attention to my heart and chosen pol sci much earlier.

sir , might have your experience was not good as others with anthro but i have quoted it as i have seen in selected candidate marks . those who get recommended with anthro most one got very decent marks as compare to those who recommended with different optional .But don't worry sir this time you will sail through with pol sci. best wishes.

S/he is trying to say what you chose to ignore. S/he actually portrayed a true picture of any optional seeming to be doing well. Don't be enamoured by marks in some optional and go for it. The person tried to help you with his/her experience that the picture isn't as rosy, but you only wanted to hear good things that corroborated your perception and hence you ignored the Crux of his/her msg. End note: Don't pick optional based on marks scored by others. Look for interest, you may outdo others irrespective of choice of optional.
