Ye expose to tabhi ho gaya tha jab last year July-August me bola ki NPA se letter mila hai.
Coz tab sirf DoPT se letter aaya tha. And NPA letter came in November-December.

I think he will come and say that he was just joking about these marks. Just to lighten his mood up otherwise he is happy with his cadre..
Horrible marks across the board..219 marks deficit.
I thought my gs papers especially ethics were way better than in 2017 yet I got similar marks. Even optional was so poor. I spent so much time reading and revising Anthro notes at the cost of gs yet the marks don't reflect that at all.
Must be the dumbest candidate ever. Could someone please guide me. Really feeling low.
Did you join test series? How much writing practice have you done?
I wrote 2 qs every day in the month of August. I joined Aspire's 2 week program before mains and did some answer writing practice there.
Didn't join any test series as I was/am working outside Delhi and had to complete my optional and revise GS.
Still I feel that there are many candidates who don't write much or join tests yet score good marks or even crack the exam. I mean if i can get decent marks in essay with zero practice then I don't understand how I can get such poor marks in rest of the papers. I mean I must be the one who got lowest marks in Anthro.
PS: i had philo in 1st attempt which I found uninteresting. Changed to Anthro as I found the material interesting...marks though..
Essay people can score without much practice honestly. There's no time pressure in essay.
Test series helps many, there might be few exceptions who can do it without test series. Just my 2 cents. I didn't do great in mains myself.
Atleast you are close to cutoff and it gives you hope of clearing it eventually. I am so far away..totally demotivated by the marks..even if i decided to take off after prelims..how much can I possibly improve? I sound deflated/defeatist in attitude..what to do? To top it off, my prep for pre this year is bad.
Last year I got 546 marks - 250 less than cutoff. This year I got 680- 100 less than cutoff. Improvement of 150 marks in a year. I will be giving this attempt and try to improve further.
Improvement happens slowly. Just do not lose patience.
That's good relatively speaking. Kindly elaborate what changes you made in prep.
I got only 150 in optional last year ( Civil Engineering). So spent 70% time on optional. Read all books once more. Got 253 this time. Could not do much about GS. This year I have joined mains test series for GS and continue devoting 50% time for optionals. I feel that getting good marks in optional should be first priority.

So our beloved Dawson is not coming anymore. This is it. An era has ended. He is the most consistent troll in the history of ForumIAS. But he isn’t brave enough to come and accept about it like Ferrero Rocher did. Nevertheless, Dawson’s name will be written in golden letters in the history of Forumias as The Most Consistent Troll.
Bus ek negative fallout iska ye hai ki is Dawson ki wajah se ab log shareef trolls ko bhi buri nazro se dekhenge.

I think it can be the case. Its all a misunderstanding. Dawson should come and clarify that he was just kidding. People are genuinely thinking that he could be a troll. Even i thought that he is a troll. @jack_dawson please come and clarify that you were just having fun with us. We genuinely thought that you could be a troll. Lol. Poor us! Please come and clarify your stand, Dawson sir...
