IFoS, Why Only for English Medium ?

edited March 2015 in Ethics
Why does Eng. medium ppl have all the fun. Even foreign service doesnt have such constraints. Like our tigers know english only or what. Regional medium ppl also deserve "jungle mein mangal".
Any idea in past, If any protest kind of thing happened or regional language aspirants went to court. Really its very frustrating, in india we cant even appear with hindi or other language.
मैं खड़ा हूँ उसी दोराहे पे, आज भी इंतज़ार में तेरे !
या तो ज़िन्दगी आये तेरे लिबास में! या मैं चलूँ फिरदौस की तलाश में !!

  • Its IFoS please edit your thread title !

I guess its because its a very technical service and the FSI training would involve heavy taxonomical jargon thereby imposing the precondition of a good proficiency in english..just a guess

may be, but its not good. ppl chose hindi medium doesnt mean they are weak in English. its more abt being comfortable with the language. the other difficulty is the technical word its difficult to switch them.
I like the RajasthanPSC pattern(though there is no optional funda now), earlier even you chose hindi medium you cud write ur technical ppr like engineering paper in english also, the only condition was to write entire paper in any one language either eng or hindi.

  • although im not eligible for ifos i support english wherever it can be... i thought 2013 would be my year with 100 english marks scraaped by protests (which shudnt hv been done but for narayanswamy's submissive attitude. englsih should be held as much as it could be. now pls do not start showing anger on me.... i said wat i feel like...

I would think it has more to do with politics. IAS is much more familiar to junta and politicians ; so language politics has more potential in case of civil services.

If someone starts protest tomorrow related to this issue and if some party can find enough political mileage, we might have IFoS in Hindi too.
All generalizations are false including this one
    Fascinating Universe -
  • irony is we'll are talking in favor of "Hindi" in "English" . and now you wanna know what's the reason behind this . :D
  • its english vs regional languages, not eng vs hindi. we can reach everyone using english.
