What is the actual price of oil?

edited February 2014 in SSC
Well there are different views about the prices of gas and petrol with many fraud Facebook posts claiming prices to be too low in reality. I want to know how is the price in these sectors determined in India and in your opinion what can be done to lower the price?

Comments

  • i thought ongc produced far more gas than reliance. also there is oil india in gas production plus some other JVs etc. reliance produces only a certain portion of total production in the country.
i am less knowledgeable in field, please correct me if i am misinformed.

    PETROL PRICE IN INDIAN MARKET

If you look at the price of Petrol as well, you will see the major component of price paid by the customers is actually Tax component of the Central and State Governments. The actual price of Petrol should only be approximately 60% of what is paid by the customers. Roughly 40% is tax component. See here.

Thanks for the explanation, but the link is not working. Can you share the details again, if you have them with you.
