IRTS vs DANIPS..... Which one is better if selected in both in consecutive years?

edited March 15 in Miscellaneous
Hello Guys,
This question is on the behalf of my cousin. He got DANIPS in 2016 and IRTS in 2017. He exhausted all his attempts. Now he is in Danips. He is confused in making a choice between danips and Irts?

DANIPS has a chance to promote to get promoted into IPS(around 22-25 years) but initially he has to work as group B officer(promotions are extremely slow) and IRTS is a group A service and promotions are very fast in comparison to Danips, so guys please help him to get out from this dilemma. Which service has a better career and balance with workload and personal life.

IRTS is a group A service and you are boss in railways department while in DANIPS, your boss is an IPS
  • I will give you a practical answer.
The choice you asked depends on whether you are a Delhite or domiciled in a hinterland state.

If you are a Delhite choose danips. You will remain in Delhi for most of your career and your family will enjoy the perks and influence of your service. Also, Delhi has a Commissionary system so you will be answerable only to YOUR departmental officers and not to the General Administration officers (danics/IAS).

If you are from some state, especially the hindi heartland, go for IRTS. Reasons are stated in comments above. Promotions, central service, medical facilities, regular and timely salary, housing facilities etc.

And don't have qualms in asking queries for yourself. You are probably an officer already or just a curious aspirant. Either way, don't route your queries via your hypothetical cousin. No one asks their cousins to ask so detailed queries, that too on online platform. Get real...

    2015 - Interview*
    2016 - IRS (C&CE)
    2017 - IPS
2018 - Prelims, Mains, Personality Test*

  • Go for irts, better perks free railway bungalow, free pass, free medical facilities etc+will get the chance to work in one of biggest organisation of the world

Career promotion u get to reach max at com/ccm(chief operation manager/ commercial manager) in some rarest to rare case drm

Irts is ias of railway, but due to engineering service irts ko itna bhaav nhi milata

Tickets confirm milega irrespective of peak season or non peak season
  • danips seem to be more glamorous

Someone is anonymous and have not told you his rank does not mean that he is fake. Don't spread false. I know him very well personally and he is an under trainee IPS.
  • There are 4 services apart from IAS/IPS which is directly into Administration..which most of the candidates aspire for i.e. to get into Administration...those are DANICS/ DANIPS and PONDICS/PONDIPS..

Rest services are domain specific...though IPS is also a specialized service, it's the face of administration esply in commissionerates ..
If one wants to get into IPS and lands in DANIPS, it's the second best in that case..police holds huge powers .ACP is spl executive magistrate in many cases and enforces many section in CrPC, IPC, which is usually enforced by SDM/adm/dm in non-commissionerates.. recognition, power, respect, infra, vehicle, etc will not be an issue in DANIPS...

Rest pros n cons of IRTS is already in public domain...
    DANICS 2017
    Optional - Philosophy
  • However, stagnation in promotion, Grp B status, monotony can be the cons ...however, every service is monotonous...moreover, I don't think it requires 22-24 years to get inducted into IPS...it should be earlier

Sir, do IPS officers posted as SP of a district salute an IAS officer posted as Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate of the same district but is junior to the IPS officer in batch?
