Difference between Gen and EWS cut off in Upsc cse based on TISS results

Someone shared TISS results which were declared yesterday where EWS reservation was given. In a 100 marks paper, the gen cut off is 75 while the EWS cut off is 70.

The logical extrapolation in a 200 marks Upsc paper seems to indicate there'll be a difference of 8-10 marks between Gen and EWS cut off. Maybe negative marking can create a difference since TISS doesn't have it?
Anyway, not looking good for us Gen folks it seems.

Bhai, this is too much romanticisation. Obc cut off never goes beyond 4-5 marks below general. If there is EWS reservation in UPSC you can expect not more than 1-2 marks of relief.

That is understating the impact of reservation. Lower cut off in prelims..Then in mains.. then in final list..And worst impact in service allotment.. and tHis is the most painful aspect of reservation you see... Getting advantage at every stage of the exam and then playing these benefits down..

  • EWS cannot be applied in TISS because exam was conducted in January and EWS central government notification came out in February

    google it
  • dont worry, the sheer number of people who appearfor UPSC will make sure that the cutoffs remain close for EWS and Non EWS generals. It will impact more in mains than prelims i feel.

+1. In pre obc ews and gen cutoff should be in range of 2 marks but in mains difference could be anything between 10 to 25 or even 50 marks
    36 ka aankda with upsc
  • In TISS, the cutoff difference is high because very few people were able to apply under EWS, and to fit that small number in 10% of seats, the cutoff had to be decreased.
This won't happen in UPSC, because the process for applying and getting EWS certificate would become easier & more people will apply under it.

Sir, before blatantly refusing any fact, please try to look it up once.
TISS had extended it's result declaration to fit in EWS reservation.

TISS had extended it's result declaration to fit in EWS reservation.
Extension depends on the institute itself otherwise in other government exams it was not possible
    And I ain't sir
