Help me! - I am an Alcoholic Survivor.

I am 26 Male.
Finished my Engineering by 2015. Attended full time UPSC classes in 2015 - 2016. But didn't study even for a single day. By 2016 had a very bad breakup. Became alcoholic. Lost health.
(I don't blame anyone for this. I don't want to.)
In 2018, it hit me hard that I am wasting my life. Cheating my parents by saying that I am preparing for UPSC. Wasting their hard earned money. So, I went for rehabilitation.

After many unsuccessful attempts, now I am trying to get back into my life free from alcohol and past bad memories.

Now I really want to crack UPSC 2019.
Not for myself. Mainly to create a quality change in the society.
Not a fresher in UPSC as I have attended classes here and there.
If you are a senior/experienced/successful aspirant and if you want to help me, please do.
It will mean a lot.
Going to start my preparation from tomorrow.i.e.Jan 14, 2019.

These are my doubts:
1. Should I start from NCERTs or go straight into standard books? If so, suggest the limited sources.
2. Choosing Sociology optional. Planning to start its preparation too. And finish the optional by March 2019. 2.5 months to go.
3. Planning to combine both Prelims and Mains preparation till March. Finish Mains exclusive portions by March 2019. And dedicate April & May for Prelims preparation alone.
4. Suggest which has to be avoided in preparation and which doesn't work. I am already lagging behind. Just want to reduce the failures and methods which won't work.

Yes,
I am aware of the reality. With just 4.5 months more for 2019 exam, being a fresher, starting from scratch, both GS & optional to be covered from zero,
I know that I am too greedy. Over Confident. Over ambitious. But,
I have no other choices now. Had wasted too many of my precious years and health.
I need to smash this 2019 attempt. I need to win, not for others but just to prove myself that I am capable. Atleast try to my maximum potential.
If you can help me with this new journey, please do. Will really mean a lot.

Thank You.

  • Thats good fellow aspirant

    Thanks. Any suggestions?
  • I think just josh fades in few days..
So jab tak loha garam hai, pick up any basic book and strt reading...and not waste much time on thinking, asking, planning etc
    allez...allez...allezzz...allez...!!

  • Good job , remember what you feel now when you get moments of doubt , write something and paste on your study table .
    As per advise .
1.You must give more stress on prelims atleast after mid feb , make sure to go through the basic ncerts first ( just for geography mainly and few for social studies which you can skip too)
    2. Do the laxmikant , spectrum asap , once or twice .
    3. Leave the mains only topics , eg world history etc
    4. Modern indian history , geography , polity and current affairs is what will sail you through
    5. Anything that you have studied previously even if the little you remember from classes will help you make this easier and cover quickly
    6. Make sure to exercise , walks , an hour of socialisation with supportive people
    7. Cant advise for optional as its not mine and there is not much time to pick it up now , you can tackle it easily after prelims

We all are with you and here to support you , feel free to message if you need any support.
    All the best @Phoenix2019

  • Kaisi huinshuruat @Pheonix2019 bro

    @mai_shayar_to_nahi English?
    How was the beginning today?
  • I was asking about your day as you have started it today
  • And i want to add my two cents..and its related to mindset. You may feel bad about your lost years but it will be helpful if you feel grateful for the 4.5 months you have. And all the positive things in life.. it will make you feel positive about the situation and psitivty increases productivity.
