Doubt regarding resolution against speaker

It is said that absolute majority (a majority of the total members of the house) is needed to pass the resolution to remove the speaker. Does this absolute majority mean, the majority of total member of the session or total membership of the house?

Also, what is annual vote? Can de[uty speaker participate in annual vote?

Comments

  • It is effective majority i.e majority of the then total membership of house at that moment eg 545 - vacancies[if any] .

To remove speaker, resolution will be introduced only if it is supported by 50 members and 14 day's prior notice has been given. Then if it is passed by majority of the then members I,e effective majority, speaker stands removed. He will continue to be the member of house.

  • annual vote, I think you are refereeing to budget. Yes deputy speaker is part of the house, he can caste his vote, but if he is presiding then he cant. then he can only vote in case of tie.
