SC agrees to hear PIL challenging commutation of death sentence by the president!

edited November 2013 in Current Affairs
This PIL wants supreme court to provide for reasonable restrictions on the judicial power of president relating to commutation of death sentence! Wouldn't this be a clear cut case of violation of the constitutional power that the president enjoys? Or can supreme court invoke the provision of judicial review in such cases too?

  • Discretionary powers are always debatable. Hope the SC trims them and allows the rarest of rare criminal to be hanged without inordinate delay.
