  • Hi which pen is recommended in ball point pen category...I generally use either writometer or pin point....ink pens like pilot I can't handle letters will be too sharp for me with them. Is gel pen also similar to ink pen or is it more like ball pen?

If you can manage with Write-o-meter its a good enough pen. I know at 7 people who secured very good marks in Mains and a position in IAS writing with pen. First guy was @ valkyrie724 , then one the day of ForumIAS Community Meet , I borrowed pen from 2 people , both were being felicitated for getting IAS, and both pens were Write - o meter.:P

    Just superstition :P

  • Tried pilot v7. Cartridge wala.
Its very smooth and fast. It looks very neat. Refilling is not a pain as well. A "known" answer can be completed in 7-7.5 minute. (Ball pen it took me 8-8.5 minute). Give it a try if you haven't :)
  • Trimax ink is very light, looks like faint blue. How is V7/V5 ink??

Speed k liye badhiya pen hai butterflow...haath khud b khud chalne lgta hai..
But asthetic feel ni aati..agar achhi handwriting hai then you should go with it..else agar avg types hai to bhai gel/pilot pens m kuch dekh lo..

    @individual

i want to go for inks with colour same as the white pilot pen or trimax or uniball vision, not the jetstream one.not the one in V5 /V7 which is darker shade.i looked for colours but samples are too small to judge on laptop screen.can u suggest the name of colour and waterproof ink.i may use in refillable roller ball or any fountain pens.

If v7 leaves mark on back side, can go v5 the blue one...it is smoother than the white one.also it was selling cheap at Amazon.

    Yes, it does ....
2014 mains gs 1 and essay - no problem ... but paper quality in gs 2 was below standard, so it did leave impression on back side.

UPSC copies are good quality, but since v7 leaves impression in my classmate notebooks i dont know wether it may leave mark there also or not.but notebook pages are generally average quality.most probably it wont leave on upsc papers but i havent tried.anyone who has used V7 in mains may give better idea.

Thanks bro.but actually my answer sheet looks little untidy with dark shade of blue,so m looking for light blue ink fountain pens.no doubt V5 is a fabulous pen wrt smoothness.

  • @Geheimnisse trimax seems best for light sky color ink, it runs smooth as well. You can buy its cartridges.

Only reason i am dumping it is because of the ink color as i prefer dark blue color.

    I am reposting my comment

    1. Cello Gripper ( 0.5mm ball point pen)

    2. Cello Max Writer/Butterflow

    3. Flair Sporty writometer

    4. Pilot V5/V7

    5. Reynolds Trimax ( I guess its most voted pen )

    6. Reynolds Jotter/racergel

If you need a darker color for a pen similar to trimax you can try classmate pollax a touch smoother and darker as well.
