Difference between group B and group C posts

Both have gp 4600/- but asst enforcement offr is gp b and income tax inspector is gp c. many other posts though has same grade pay but allotted group c and some allotted gp b..can you please clarify the diff. in all aspects.
also please provide the difference wrt to equivalent post in state govt.??

  • Group c can never become a gazzette officer unless and until he gets promotion.there are two post of gazzete officers group a and group b gazzette officer,recruited through upsc.most group b officers are non gazzete until they get promoted to 4800 pay band.

    Bahut time lagega 30 years ke around.only a few si in dp would reach acp position that at fag end of their career.

  • Not much difference at same gp. For ef income tax insp.is froup c and excise inspector is group b at same gp of 4600. Both will become group b gazetted after first promotion.

    In fact, at same gp, its better to be group c as they dont have to file annual ipr returns, and aome other perks.
