The Indian Ocean Zone of Peace | India's dilema

Though duval saab told India Ocean to remain Zone of Peace. In order to curb growing Chinese influence.
Various media section says it will make pakistan to be more vocal asking indian ocean to make nuclear free zone. So we may need to remove our nuclear submarine Arihant.

  • Let Pakistan start chirping .. They never pay heed to any international institutions in stopping state sponsored terrorism , so why should others give due attention to their words .. So Arihant will rule Indian Waters .. \m/

  • IOZOP was not passed by the UNGA due to the opposition from the west, for the fear of reduction in their influence(cold war era). why will they change their stand now and support pakistan?(when situation is similar now china in the picture) ?
    History Optional

I am not concerned about west's stand. What would be India's stand.

  • nuclear free zone means no nuclear weapons or nuclear power plant in that area. It doesn't apply to nuclear submarines.

Doesn't matter. Even if India wants IOZOP 0% chance of success, why?
    1. Some nations consider it to outdated concept.
    2. They think India is paranoid, they say there is no block rivalry ATM.
    3. USA off-course won't support it, because it would reduce their presence.
    4. China won't support it, since it is targeted at them.

Pak is asking for denuclearization since 1974 nuclear test, nothing new here.

3 decades back china was the only veto power which was not opposing the zone of piece idea. but situation is changed a bit. Now china wud be most vocal to take it further, but US will not have that much interest, anyway US doesnt have that much vested interest in pursian gulf and IOC, considering shalegas boom funda
