CSAT:Discriminatory or a propaganda of failures?

Hi all.Its an honest and candid conversation regarding the brevity of the protests originating in 2014 and subsequent removal of CSAT.What is your opinion about it.Was it really a paper tough enough to create bias in favour of IIT /IIM candidates or the fact was it was a reform to cleanse the system of rote memorisation based competition?

It is propoganda. It's the same unemployed youth which go to destroy Padmavati showcasing theatres . It is the same unemployed youth in DU which even after graduating spend time in filthy student politics and violence. It is the same unemployed youth which funds one reason or another to find some form of discrimination in their life and relate it to social structures.

Technology and mathematics is part and parcel of administration and policymaking now. All these points you write in you exam- "monitoring and evaluation of policies must be done to ensure effective implementation"- this is pure statistical analysis. So, let me say it with utmost disregard to these aspirants that they are mathematicalally and probabilistically illetrate.

One can read and master CSAT in way less time than this bakchodi.

That is not pure maths and English literature at all. Even though English was tough for Hindi medium students or others, maths was never based on formulae or calculus. Some people argue in a funny way that if medical science was introduced Engineering and other science students would have protested, how funny that is !!!!!
If anyone wants to test it, introduce medical aptitude, whatever that means.
  • What's your problem mate..??..
    .
If there are some students, who struggle at class 8 level mathematical problems due to low IQ, cannot comprehend even class 5 level English, cannot solve simple riddles, but due to dirty nature of politics in India and their joblessness, they are able to tilt the structure of exam to rote learning by resorting to violence and damage to public property, what is it that you find wrong..??..
    .
They are still struggling to obtain 66 marks, and I won't be surprised if they manage to get rid of CSAT paper as well.
I've deleted my gmail account. So your messages won't reach me. ATB. :)

They should be more sad about how engineer and doctors come and destroy these people in their own area of "expertise" ( whatever that means ).

That's what they could not understand.Actually they are "expert sans no expertise".

That was political sell out of government when they changed CSAT from compulsory to just passing through exam. This exam is as important as other gs subjects. Simple maths and probability is like article 21 of constitution: it encompasses all aspects of all fields now. Say health, education, industry promotion, aids surveillance, disaster management, poverty alleviation, regulatory aspects and anything you can think of- it is not possible to do anything now without maths, computer know-how and English.
  • Those who failed CSAT,were actually the dumbest people on earth, most corrupt and frustrated ones without any future aspirations.
  • It is not correct to say that people with who fail or score less in CSAT are dumbest lot of this preparation. I know personally two bright IITians who failed to qualify CSAT.. And there are many engineers who find it difficult.. The reason being CSAT is not engineering mathematics.. It has a vast syllabus.
People barely give attention to it, they start memorising the tricks and formulas a week before prelims which never helps. Once your GS1 paper didn't get on expected lines.. People panic.. And for example this years CSAT was tricky.. 30 passage 30 questions.. Time consuming. Plus not much of reasoning.. Maths is something which you cannot master in one day.. So many failed in it despite qualifying GS1..

Moreover, we should never judge a situation or person with our point of view.. Maybe we are good in CSAT.. But we may find ethics difficult.. But for few aspirants.. Ethics is something they can score good without reading anything.

Maths and aptitude in today's world is very essential.. But think about or educational system.. Most probably we are from science stream.. Did our IIT-AIEEE coaching which benefits us in CSAT but what about arts or commerce guys who had no 'use' or mechanism to learn These skills.

Tina Dabi scored 98 in CSAT and someone I know scored 134 but that doesn't mean Tina Dabi is dumb.
There is no god but God

not only that, she also tried to project the IAS job profile as something glamorous, celebrity like status unlike other toppers. As a result, many freshers who otherwise would have pursued their specialisations have jumped into this upsc gamble post 2015 results to get that star status and get interviewed. You can see upsc preparation videos on the youtube trending pages nowadays.

she will realise it one day or the other, but more worrisome is the fact that many guys quit their good old corporate jobs which they considered as "monotonous"/ "boring" in this pursuit. Such propaganda cemented this "cool" "instant celebrity" belief and dragged these innocent people to the upsc muddle. Now the economic scenario is so bleak that people are unable to get back in the private sector.Good jobs are rare to come by nowadays.

totally agree with you.... upsc is purely a gamble... it is no exam to test intelligence like jee/pmt.... everything is dependent on luck after pre.... but those who qualify would never accept this fact and degrade others as failures..... but time sabka aata hai

I can't forget that pic of hers n tagline* lal dupatta* bhai ye kya filmi majaak bana diya IAS ka.
2015 n 2011 in both these years I saw many undeserving (I call them dumb) candidates getting through and finally making it to top.But sooner they realise their mistakes it will be better. They may get into service but can't prosper unless they have great burning desire to serve the society.

I think the way corporates are hell bent on undermining govt job and even favoring coroporate officials at top poaition the IAS will loose its sheen and old days will return when best thing was still an MBA

It is not correct to say that people with who fail or score less in CSAT are dumbest lot of this preparation.

Tina Dani k wajese hi papers k nature badle Hain pre n mains me I guess..
not only that, she also tried to project the IAS job profile as something glamorous, celebrity like status unlike other toppers. As a result, many freshers who otherwise would have pursued their specialisations have jumped into this upsc gamble post 2015 results to get that star status and get interviewed. You can see upsc preparation videos on the youtube trending pages nowadays.
Yup true to each words. She will understand it very soon that it us just another job where an MBA can show you that he is better placed then you.

Lateral entry is must.younger age bureaucracy and private sector lateral entry is important to ensure a level playing field.
