Latest Amendment in the RP Act

Hi everyone

As all of us know that an amendment has been brought in the RP Act after the C.E.C. v. Jan Choukidar verdict. I think it is a very significant amendment as it has completely nullified the Jan Choukidar judgment. Now, persons behind bars can again contest the elections (except those who are convicted under the offences mentioned in the RP Act, no respite for them). What are your views in this regard?

I tried to analyze this amendment in the light of the Jan Choukidar verdict. Here is the link. http://www.desikanoon.co.in/2013/10/jan-choukidar-verdict-and-amendment-to.html
