CSE 2018 Working professionals

Hi all,
Any working professional here preparing for prelims 2018? I am currently working and want to give this exam. I have not yet started preparing and have absolutely no idea about the process of preparation. I just know the syllabus and the selection process. I don't know what one should read or what material to use. Even the syllabus is confusing and not easy to understand for me. Is it possible to clear this exam in the time left or should I leave this attempt and target 2019 prelims. I cannot join coaching as I don't have the time. Any guidance would be appreciated.

As a working candidate, I can understand your situation, and it is feasible to prepare for upsc along with work. However, it depends on your job sector and how much time you can afford to spend on prep. Take a week, print out the syllabus, finalize what optional you want to take and straight forth start reading from the standard books. Its is doable and since its early september you have more than enough time on your hands to not only finish studying for prelims but also to revise. I didn't bother with coaching, it might be more beneficial if you signed up for a test series.
Its called garbage can, not garbage cannot.
