Important : List of all Important Issues for Mains 2017

edited August 23 in Social, Tips & Support
Hello,

I have benefited a lot form forum in the past, because of good stuff shared here. I was thinking that since so many people are here appearing for mains 2017, we should come up with important issues for mains. we can have two threads - one can be

- list of important issues for Mains 2017 - Final List

- list of important issues for Mains 2017 - Submit Here

we can propose topics in the submit list . Then moderators can sieve through it and put it in the final list, so that we have a consolidated list?

@DrKingSchuItz and other moderators, can help with this?

If needed then the final list can be made an announcement?

  • Much appreciated, few important things I'd like to add:

    * Keep the thread crisp and clear with no repetition so as to avoid piling up.
    * Also we can practice answer writing on questions related to these topics as one without the other will not be fruitful. So side by side start a separate thread for answer writing.
    * Proper differentiation between the subject domain as mixing one into the other might create confusion.

Some topics I am able to recall:

    GS 2
    *Right to privacy issue
    *Triple talaq issue
    *Budget reforms
    *Universal basic income
    *Health care policy
    *Surrogacy bill
    *Funding of political parties
*Water issues - debates related to its inclusion in concurrent list.
    *Cpec and obor
    *Demonetization and related impacts.
    *Nsg and opposition by china
    *India's unsc bid.
*Recent ruling at the ICJ regarding jadhav
*Relations with US after regime change.
    *Africa- Asia growth corridor

    GS 3
*IPR and generic medicine related issues
    *Issues related to GM crops
*WTO ruling against Domestic content requirement of solar panels.
*Surging protectionism and which India must oppose.
*Twin balance sheet and NPA issue.
    *Protecting forest fires.
    *Oil spill issue.
*Financial inclusion through digital payment mechanism.
    *Cyclone vardah
    *Pollution issues in metro cities
    *Superbug and antibiotic resistance issues
    *Forest right issues of tribals.
    *Doklam standoff
    *Cyber security issues
    *SAMADHAN against Maoists.

    Keep adding more...

  • It would be better to create a google excel sheet. Anyone can add to it.

    It becomes very messy here.

You could also use Google forms to compile important issues. That way people will not be able to delete info.
    ·
  • imp topics for essay can also be listed here...

    thank you @rattlesnake

i went through this , and i know that we will end up with too many topics... can we make this more refined like.

    Issue No. 1

    *Right to privacy issue*

    - What is right to privacy?
    - legal and constitutional status?
    - arguments for & arguments against?
    - relevant links?

can we have this format? otherwise people will just post everything that they know

Secondly, can we just focus on current issues for now?

@DrKingSchuItz dir, can you help in this initiative?

    ·
  • Good initiative.

Sadly, I won't be able to participate since my optional is in shambles and I would like to get that in olympic-level shape by mid-September. :)

I have announced the thread. Maybe an excel sheet for the curated topics can be made.

Also, this is not prelims, so simply topics like "SAMADHAN" and "SAMPADA" won't help. We need an issue and all it's dimensions in one place, like @anjus has shown above.

Prelims: 4. Mains: 2*. Interview: 1. Rank: NA.
    Literature of English Language.

Bhai, I think SAMADHAN itself is covering all major dimensions related to counter Maoists operations, that's why it is called integrated and holistic approach:

    S- Smart Leadership
    A- Aggressive Strategy
    M- Motivation and Training
    A- Actionable Intelligence
D- Dashboard Based KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
    H- Harnessing Technology
A- Action plan for each Theatre
    N- No access to Financing

Also problem of LWE, Origin and future prospects can be covered.
correct me if I am wrong..

@anjus, this approach seems good, that's why I feel that there should be a separate answer writing thread to cover major aspects. In fact instead of elaborating the points, we can have one question covering all these angles. It would incentivize people to participate. Like for the right to privacy, the question can be "What do you mean by privacy? Do you think the right to privacy has gained much ground in the digital era? Discuss."

    Suggestions are welcome..

Why don't we go about breaking down each and every topic in GSI, II and III? - for ex.in GSII, Role of civil services in democracy will include issues related to A311, political interference, general nature of Indian bureaucracy and its evolution, lateral entry - pros and cons, matters related to corruption (TNPSC appointments) etc.
Similar classification can be done for every topic in the syllabus. I think that will be a much better approach than randomly listing current topics and discussing them.

I have added a column "topic" in the sheet where we can write which part of syllabus the question belongs to.
