NORTH EAST TRADE WINDS AND OCEAN CURRENTS

North East trade winds flow from sub-tropical high to equatorial low while north equatorial current under the influence of north east wind is carried northwards into east china sea as kuroshio current. We know that warm equatorial water moves slowly towards polwards but how can we justify its flow as north east trade wind flow from sub-tropical high to equatorial low???

The above bold letters You said are half truth only.
Less warm Temperate waters also tend to flow slowly towards Equator....
Actually it is almost circular...in any hemisphere. See it in its entirety. Hope that will clear the picture.
    Humanity is above all.

  • There's a concept called ekman transport and ekman spiral. What is essentially says is this : water tends to move at 90 degrees that of the direction of the wind. If the above sentence is vague to you then search Ekman transport in the Google for elaborate description and you will have your answer.
