  • For anthro coaching & material resources is not that good compared to sociology. No, it's different from the perspective of sociology. Everything should be looked from anthropological perspective, not just from sociological point of view. It's a wrong perception to think it's same as sociology.
The syllabus / topics might seem similar, but the way u approach differs a lot.
Think over while changing the optional, bcoz it means a lot in mains as u know.

Vajiram faculty bindu maam said: Anthro is 70% socio and 30% bio..and thats somewhat true..in anthro its static socio...only the tribes paper 2 part you have to do in so much details including current..that is why upsc previously, and other state exams do not allow anthro and socio combination...
I am a socio student..just start having grasp on bio part..anthro is good...
This is my 1st attempt so 1st teying my hand at socio..as i took coaching too..if didn't go well i wl take anthro

  • I have many friends who have taken Anthro as the optional and taking coaching in Rajinder Nagar only. But the problem is that there are no good teachers for Anthro and NO consolidated material for such a huge syllabus. Teachers here cover the syllabus in 2.5 months and its a joke 2.5 months only for an OPtional Subject. You have to refer to many materials and I find it hectic for a UPSC optional subject. Already there is so much to cover.

Socio OPtional- Many friends did it from Upendra Gaur Sir and they are satisifed.
You can refer to his notes or Join his classes as you may like.
