    Question: What are the possible benefits of India's first Coastal Industrial Corridor at regional and national level ?

    Will the Climate change fund mentioned in it is part of the VCIC Corridor or is it separately given as a mitigation measure?

  • Few broad points:

    Intro:
    VCIC is part of ECEC, Eastern Coast Economic Corridor, which aims to connect Kolkata to Tuticorin.
    It is 1st in the part of ECEC.
    Idea is not just to build new projects but upgrade existing ones.

    Body:
    What are is objectives?
    A. Install state of the art Industrial Clusters
    b. Build and maintain, Efficient Transport
    C. Reliable Water and Power suplies
    D. Generate Employment and Skilled Labour Force
    E. Foster good business policies.

    VCIC in particular, will aim at,
    A. Capacity development of institutions engaged in corridor management
    B. Foster entrepreneurship and increasing womens participation thus aid Make in India initiative.

    Conclusion:
    Being part of the 5 Major Economic Corridors, it is first to come in East India.
    Will increase GDP output of the region to 4 times from present $16 Billion to 64.
    Aligned with Golden Quadrilateral and will help in Trade Diplomacy (with India's Act East Policy) and Make in India Initiative.
