CHANGING OPTIONAL AFTER MAINS 2016 RESULT

  • This is a pointless exercise. I guess you must be at least 70-80 or 90% done in your optional if not 100, you can easily improve upon it for this year. Why start a fresh optional from 0%? Btw what optional you think you"re gonna choose for this year :| All optionals are getting mixed treatment these days. You think your optional got butchered this year who knows the optional you switch to now might get butchered next year? So i think it is more about the hard work that you're putting into. Moreover, you will have ample of time left to improve your GS scores if you don't start a fresh optional.

  • Bhai matlb kuwa s khai m kud padoge...sm are going from socio to geo...whats the point? If you are taking such a drastic step, why not go for literature like sanskrit or anthro... Sanskrit lit has given excellent results this time...or if from iit/nit go for engg/maths...

dude anthro has performed well. i would say avoid Geo,socio, history, philo if you are changing optionals. these papers are giving below par results, many interview appeared guys have been kicked out this time in socio and history.

yup bro, you are right, but look the guy is jumping from anthro to geo...its like a suicide...first of all if one is going for an optional change, why should one go for geo/socio/history, the results are pretty evident now. i know 3 guys in my friend circle who switched from geo to antho after mains marksheets were out. 2 of them cleared mains..by studying that optional for 3 months, infact their gs prep was hampered, still they made it. all 3 are from general, so this optional has worked for sure...

what can i say.. if such a high success rate. but annual sheet of upsc shows 5-7% selection for each optional. this 3 month is a myth propagated. let me know their marks after result are out. will be surprised to see more than 220s

    ye kam nahi h :D
    bhai...1 chhoti se baat h..
Anthro/Engg/Sanskrit...me ab tak kam bheed rahi h(aage ka nahi pata)
to pro log ka proportion bhi kam h..
Geo me to bc...bahut tough fight h...kai kitabe padhne wale anek baithe h..
Lekin...fir bhi acchi prep wale nikle h.
Plus geo ka GS me advantage h thoda sa Anthro/engg/sanskrit ka bilkul nahi h.
So agar 3 months only optional ko koi de rha h..to thoda GS bhi cover hoga geo me..
isliye shayad 10 marks on an avg kam ho ..may be.
    which implies...bina GS fode..nahi niklega..geo se

who told u anthro has 0 relevance for GS.
Last yr Mesolithic Art - anthro syllabus
    Tribal policy - Anthro
    Regionalism with ethinicity - anthro
    even Globalisation related
social issues related FRA etc u can quote case study of anthro in GS-2 social issue.
Geo everyone covers for prelims and that much is enough 4 mains too.
In present circumstances anthro has more relevance for GS of mains.
