RBI vs ITI.. please throw some light on each one.

Dear friends..
I am an assistant in rbi. Have my promotional exam this year. I am selected for income tax inspector in ssc cgl 2015. I am finding it difficult to chose between the two. I request you to throw light upon various dimensions involved so that i can think and take the right decision.

Other details:
-Done with 5 attempts in cse. Wrote 4 mains. Wrote 2 forest mains. Not confident of clearing mains now either. Optional - agriculture. Mains marks - 651 in 2014 and 633 in 2015.
-i am left with 1 CSE attempt, 2 forest attempts, state PSC exam this year. Don't know if I can compete with the new aspirants.
-my parents live with me and they find it comfortable to live in homestate.. RBI transfers are all over India. I wanted to go out of home state only if it was IAS or IPS.
- RBI pay will be around 70-80k if I get promoted this year (chances are high).
-i have no clue what kind of power does the post ItI posses and hence unable to compare it with RBI.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

  • Will you get promoted to RBI Grade B?
If you get promoted to Grade B, no point even thinking about ITI.
ITI only if you want to earn a lot of unaccounted money. But, after promotion in RBI you will have a good enough pay.
Plus, in RBI you will have a peaceful life and have time for family as well

I ll be promoted to grade A. But pay will be almost equal to or a little more than grade B since I have 3 years experience.. after promotion.. first posting will be usually to Mumbai.. which will be difficult for parents. My mum is not well and needs continuous attention.

Even in ITI, you can be posted anywhere in the country According to me, staying in the RBI and availing promotion would be a better choice.

  • ITI can earn a lot through unethical means etc. Promotion to IRS level in 10-12 years. Rbi me peace hai, decent salary hai but cost of living is higher in top cities and big city life is chaotic as well.
If I was in your position, I would have joined income tax and gotten married to some govt employee living in City where you would like to settle. Then get posting at that location using married life so excuse.

Housing and most other expenses are taken care of by RBI

  • Go to RBI ...not just salary & perks...u get opportunity to make some decisions that influence the banking sector as a whole... u r like inspector of banks ... U will get respect & importance among bankers...u will be invited to imp discussions; meeting; conferences.etc.. Ur growth depends more on ur performance ; internal exams..etvc..but in IT Dept there will be internal politics; external pressure.... Etc...more transfers... Targets... Deadlines.. Less peace... More unpredictability
