Uttar Pradesh as Home state in DAF! UPSC -2016

This thread is to discuss about problems, challenges, opportunities, geography, economy etc all together with relevant facts.
Here we can post some video, article links , govt facts related to many socio-economic indicators etc.

Every year UPSC board ask many general questions related to UP but we do not able to answer in more holistic manners.

For eg. Majority of PMs belong to UP, still its not getting much needed attention?
Why is UP weak industrially?
How to improve HDI of UP ? etc

These type of questions we can post here...and then we will tackle them with correct facts.

Lets get start! Good luck!

Article 142 by SC in Lokayukta issue.
Sichewal model in Ganga Gram Yojana.

  • How to utilise demographic dividend of UP?
    ·
  • Guys lot of suggestions for questions but let's also start deliberating on answers. The discussion can provide us fodder to frame our own responses.

Let's start with a frequent one.

your opinion if favor or opposition to bi/trifurcation of UP and reasons thereof
    ·
  • Favour:
    Huge population
    Closer to centre of administration.
Better attention to issues of local concern
    Better local representation in legislature

    Cons:
Considerable expenditure on building administrative infrastructure
Add Fire to regional tendencies from other parts of India
Possibly Unable to compete with other states for investment
New Inter state river water conflicts
    Other similar resource conflicts

So fodder for both sides. Not really in favor of division at the moment but need to construct better arguments.. Suggestions? Please add.

    great
    Merit
    1. Better demographic dividend
    2. Huge and unstructured MSME, informalised labour
    3. Better Tourism Potential and Forex
    4. Reaping Dalit Capitalism.
    5.

    Demerits
    1. Greater Crime rate, insecurity among people.
    2. Poor penetration of Central Government schemes, Eg PMFBY.
    3. Less acceptability to Expand MSME, citing duty concerns.
    4. Communalistic tension, rumour mongering.

    Nice.
I think I'll answer in negative if division of the state is asked. Only main counter question is how to manage such a bulky state in terms of population and creative solutions henceforth.

Any suggestions over creative solutions? I'll also look into some.
