    needless to say i m from UP ... :)

    I see that most people are placing cadres in region-wise blocks, I guess mainly due to proximity to home and language (Hindi/Non Hindi).

    As a Hindi speaking South Indian, I am in a bit of dilemma. My cadre preferences as of now (strong preference for multi cultural/ diverse states). any feedback would be highly appreciated.

    Karnataka(home)>Maharasthtra>Andhra>UP>Rajasthan>TN>Kerala>AGMUT>Haryana>Gujarat>MP>Uttarakhand>Punjab>Bihar>WB>the rest

    Himachal Pradesh is a stable, professional cadre to work in, you don't seem to have included it.

    Also, any reason why UP and Bihar are far apart in your preferences? Both have pretty much the same shade of underdevelopment, political interference and mai-baap bureaucracy.
    ·
  • I understand that cadre preference would vary vastly for everyone here due to various reasons but the services preference should be more and less same. Those who have already finalized the list, can they put it up here for rest of us to take a cue?

    Here's mine: (haven't put a great deal of thought into the second half so I can't really tell why I put, for example, IDAS before IIS)
    Service preference - IPS > IFS > IAS > IRS(C&CE) > IRS(IT) > IRTS > IAAS > ITS > DANIPS > IRAS > IRPS > ICLS > IDES > ICAS > IDAS > DANICS > IIS > IPoS > Ip&tFAS > RPF > AFHCS

    Cadre preference - AGMUT > Bihar > UP > Uttarakhand > Himachal Pradesh > Rajasthan > Punjab > Haryana > MP > Gujarat > Sikkim > Jharkhand > WB > Maharashtra > Kerala > Karnataka > TN > Andhra > Assam-Meghalaya > Chhattisgarh > J&K
    Are you from Bihar? Why so many spaces between Bihar, Jharkhand and Chattisgarh?
    Also Sikkim before Jharkhand and Assam-Megh before Chattisgarh woul;d be fodder questions for an IPS aspirant!!!!

    Yes, I am from Bihar (though have never lived there for an extended period).
    Sikkim, Assam/Meghalaya, HP, Uttarakhand are high up because I like mountains, which is admittedly not a very good reason but I am going with it.

  • @Stardust
    If you don't give Bihar as first preference, you will not get Bihar at all.
    This info about home state is mentioned when you preview DAF application.

    Yeah, I know. That's why I am giving Maharashtra as my home cadre (I did my schooling in Mumbai but I am not interested in working here).

  • In Educational Information, there is a column by the name "Class/Division/Grade". I have done my 10th & 12th from ICSE & ISC respectively. And in both my mark sheets they have specified "No Divisions are awarded". What should I fill in the column? & Also if the Class is Honours in graduation, how does one write it? The blanks do not allow more than 6 alphabets.
    ·
  • edited August 2013
    :-O oops ... Sorry , could you please give the exact column here . I mean the thing in your form .. Its caption , etc ..

    eg :

    Name : _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ // [ underscore indicates word length] @Orangutan
    2017--> 8th attempt
    ·
  • @Vibin
    I am attaching a screen shot of the form. I am allowed only 6 alphabets , that makes it "Honour" which makes no sense.
    Apart from that my 10th & 12th mark sheet have a note specified in the bottom saying : No divisions are awarded.

    1263 x 513 - 166K

  • @VIBIN:I dont remember the Roll No of 2011 IFoS exam(Which i applied but dint gave an attempt)..What to do? please help me..
    ·
  • Just mention you had appeared . But is it any way affecting you in online application ? If its only in offline form , then just leave it blank . @rgv_0404
    2017--> 8th attempt

    @Orangutan , did you see that bottom remarks . Please fill either percentage or CGPA , rest leave blank . Have you tried it .. You should be able to identify atleast your percentage based on your 10 and 12th marks , right .. ? Try it . Same for Degree/ Equivalent too . Even if its Honor's there should be BA or some degree attached to it , right ..? Type it .

    eg : if you are holding BA Honors , strip honors and write BA in that column.

    A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended.
