Market Segmentation

I don't understand the concept of market segmentation linked with agriculture...It has been used in economic survey as well this year...please clarify...thanks in advance!!

Comments

  • Market segmentation means lack of single agricultural market throughout nation
  • Helpful...yet want to understand how does it affects producer and consumer prices...resources factor etc
  • Actually apmc act was implemented to help farmers but it turned out otherwise which goes against market economy. By repealing apmc act we can break market segmentation and create a common market which will benefit farmers since they are not obliged to sell at mandi which eventually lead to better price discovery and it will eventually help consumers because in a market economy efficiency is maintained by eliminating middle men where there is no value addition
