    Seriously ?
Ok Cool... in that case u may add a few topics which u feel are important..
And then its really not possible to predict with perfection (It's UPSC afterall)...
All that an aspirant can do is prepare as many topics as he/she can .
    No offence whatsoever :)

  • Guyz just read a e-book "21 contemporary issues" which is available on Kindle only as of now. It has awesome writeup on 21 current affairs topics, but the way author has structured the articles for a general reader is truely laudable. I personally beleive it can be very useful for essay preperation. Do read it once.

sorry but explain ye 4th estate kya hai?

He is out there holding your hand...

  • @Peace:

In a democracy the three principle organs viz., the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary. These are the primary actors that shape the course of a nation and are called the first, second and third estate respectively. These organs always take decisions telling it is in the interest of people and the nation.

Apart from these actors, the role of media and press has gained great importance in modern democracies especially in protecting the "interests of people" by keeping them "informed". Fourth Estate generally includes the main stream media and press which subjects the other three organs to 24x7 scrutiny and compels them to come clean for omission or commission of an act.

The Fifth Estate consists of people and organisations that work outside the mainstream to expose the government, corporates and media houses eg. Wikileaks, individual bloggers etc.

I feel this is important topic because-
    1. India has highest number of 24x7 channels
    2. There has been considerable debate that news channels instead of informing are judging Eg. - The Haryana Sisters, The Sarvjeet incident in Delhi
    3. Constantly we see these media houses overstepping their mandate
    4. Arnab talking bull*** saying "nation want to know" etc.

  • Then the Topic is apt...our 4th estate is really failing. .in the run up to inform people media often takes the wrong roads and disorient itself to unnecessary stuff and sometimes too much focus..plus nowadays its kind of synchronised the activities of various channels same news flashes across all of them...it shows the sheer competition and race for trp..
Our newspapers are left but they too are in bad news due to the advertisements..5th state I.e the civil society is I guess the most important one as it originates from within the public but looking into the nos.. and risk of raising voices against political masters..they also must be protected and encouraged
He is out there holding your hand...
